Having children is an amazing event. Actually surviving raising those children takes some perseverance. Too many people are afraid to learn new ways to parent their children. Take some time to read this article and learn some great new tips that may help you survive the parenting years.

All you need is a clear kitchen counter and a rolled-up towel. Put the towel on the counter and put your child on it so that his head is under the sink faucet. Then turn on the faucet to run water over his hair. Over time, this may make a toddler more receptive to the idea of being submerged or doused with water.

Hold your breast with your fingers underneath and holding your thumb on the top when breastfeeding. Use the hand you use the most to support the head and the other hand for holding your breast. Place the nipple near his nose and he will open wide to take it in. This will provide the best latch for success.

If you have more than one child, it is important that you pay the same amount of attention to all of them, no matter what their ages are. You do not want one child to be neglected– this could cause them to show resentment toward you when they get older.

Never feed a toddler or infant soda pop, even if it is diet. Stick with drinks which provide your child nutrients like water, juice or milk.

Be wary about introducing pacifiers to your breastfeed baby. Pacifiers are designed to take care of a baby’s need to suck, however the reason a baby needs to suck is because that is how they breastfeed. If they can satisfy their need to suck elsewhere it will hurt your breastfeeding relationship. Limit pacifiers for at least the first 6 weeks.

Use your smart phone as a baby monitor. If you are visiting someone’s home or you are on vacation and do not have your monitor, you can download an application that will let your phone function as a monitor. If the baby makes a noise, your phone will call a number that you put into the application.

Find a mesh teether. These neat little things allow you to put different kinds of food in them and keep them in the freezer and give them to your child when they need them. You can use any kind of food that your child likes and it will be an enjoyable treat for them as they sooth their sore gums.

A great parenting tip is to offer your teenager a ride home from a party if they plan on drinking. It’s always a good idea to offer your teenager a ride home because you’ll never know if he or she gets into a car with someone who has been drinking.

A parent’s job is never done, but making it through those first 18 years is a not so difficult. There are a million things that we can learn about how to parent but the most important thing is that whatever you do, you do with love. Keep learning, and keep loving and your kids will be the better for it.
